About me
Scott is a media designer currently holding a dual appointment at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford where he teaches courses in design & media and directs the Environments Collaborative, a group that designs collaborative studio spaces. Prior to coming to Stanford, he taught media production at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University.
With over 12 years of experience in the motion picture industry, Scott has had almost every imaginable position in film production – from art direction to producing to acting. He has spent most of the last few years in Los Angeles as a field cinematographer on shows for CBS, Fox & ESPN. He is a practicing digital media designer & artist and founder of the Dacha art collective, whose interactive digital projections have exhibited at the San Jose Museum of Art and San Francisco's Grey Area Foundation for the Arts.
Scott loves to take on new challenges. His experience and heart lie in independent production where each person must play a multiple roles. “As the very nature of filmmaking forces us to confront unknown scenarios,” he says, “I feel the best media education is built from a strong foundation in the underlying principles of media arts, combined with an ability to learn quickly and tackle unknown challenges without fear.”
Scott holds a BA in Motion Picture Studies from UCLA & an MA in Learning, Design & Technology from Stanford University
