David learned how to develop B&W film at age 11; that magic changed his life. Before long he discovered his father's 8mm camera and grandfather's 16mm Bolex so that by 5th grade he was making movies. At odds with his parents’ wishes he chose a career in media. Fortunately he was right about pursuing his passion.
David was one of the first Betacam “shooters” in the DC area and travelled extensively, lensing development projects on every continent. He mastered linear (CMX) and eventually non-linear editing (Avid and Final Cut Pro). By 2001 David was shooting HDCam and by 2008 had moved into the digital cinema realm with the RED One 4K camera. In addition to shooting and editing, he has had the opportunity to produce and direct live multi-cam remotes, “which is always a rush – probably because of the stress and the massive numbers of people that come together to do a show.”
David says, “I love the media business and involve myself in far too many of its aspects. When it comes to storytelling through images, there is very little that doesn't interest me. I started my business, a media production company, in 1996. The goal: to do exactly what IDMA is doing. Cool.”
